Here are my top priorities as a legislator:

Visiting the US Supreme Court.

As a legislator I pledge to reach across the aisle and work for solutions that provide long term and sustainable benefits for all Minnesotans.

I will not support legislation that takes us backwards, disregards equity, seeks short term economic gain at the expense of our children and grandchildren, or denies the urgency of taking steps to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

We are past the point where incremental change is sufficient. It is time to act on all of our priorities. Together, these initiatives will strengthen the health of our community, attracting and developing a wider, more diversified, and thus more reliable economic base.

“There is no Planet B”

A Healthy Climate, Environment, and Economy

I will work tirelessly for a Minnesota in which everyone has a livable climate — clean air, clean water, healthy food — and a living wage.

Healthy ecosystems have economic value. Our wellbeing relies on wise management of finite resources and on an understanding of the interdependence of all of Earth’s systems. In our fight to stop climate change, we must work thoughtfully for a just transition so that all benefit from a healthier environment and a prosperous economy.

Health Care

I support a comprehensive single-payer health care plan, the right to make your own reproductive decisions, and to choose your own health care providers. I will support legislation requiring state-funded health insurance programs to cover medically necessary transgender health care, including transition-related care.

Human Rights and Public Safety

I will work for a Minnesota in which no one has to think about the color of their skin, their sexual orientation, or their religion when making a decision about where to walk, drive, live, or work, or if it’s safe to attend a school or express a thought.

Supporting Marriage Equality at the Capitol.

Legislation I support will honor our treaties and protect the rights of Indigenous communities to hunt, fish, and gather from the land and water.

l support the Minnesota 2024 ERA which states: All persons shall be guaranteed equal rights under the laws of this state. The state shall not discriminate against any person in intent or effect on account of their race, color, national origin, ancestry, disability or sex, including but not limited to pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes, and reproductive freedom, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.

Everyone has a right to live free of fear that they will be a victim of crime. Effective policies to reduce crime and ensure public safety come from evidence-based practices. We should ensure adequate funding of police and other public safety resources, and hold all stakeholders accountable.

Education

I support fully funding our public schools to make them comprehensive neighborhood resource centers by partnering with local colleges, technical schools, health care providers, and other services to meet the needs of the community.

We must attract and hire a more diverse group of educators to ensure our schools meet students’ needs, while increasing teacher pay and benefits to keep experienced teachers in the classroom.

Out talking to voters.

Shelter and Food

I support legislation that seeks to end homelessness and food insecurity for all Minnesotans. No one should be left without shelter or food, and no one should have to choose between paying the rent and buying life-saving medicine or groceries.

Democracy and fair elections

Our elections and election workers need to be protected from an increasing anti-democracy threat. This effort, and democracy itself, requires broad participation by candidates and voters.

I support honest and fair elections and the mechanisms that make them work, including verifiable and reliable election procedures. I appreciate the fact that Minnesota is one of the best states in the country for the quality and security of our election process.

I support ranked choice voting, which has many benefits including allowing new candidates to enter races without fear of splitting the ticket or drawing votes away from more established candidates.
